Saladin Islamic Seminary offers courses on the traditional Islamic sciences with a one-year diploma course or a Bachelor of Arts degree program. Our courses aim to present the Islamic sciences in a holistic fashion. This approach opens the mind of the student to the ocean of the Qur’an and the Sunnah, and imbues him or her with the spirit of our Righteous Predecessors in both knowledge and practice.
Our curriculum is built around the study of belief and the three divisions of the Islamic sciences (Qur’anic exegesis, hadith, and law). These subjects are accompanied by the tools of understanding (Arabic grammar and morphology, legal theory, and logic). Students are first introduced to the key terms and concepts of each science. The learning goal to acquire the ability to convey those concepts to others. Then, students focus on connecting those concepts to the primary evidences. Finally, students apply the principles of each discipline. By doing so, they gain a familiarity with variant opinions, while also developing the skill of evaluating those opinions according to the standard methodologies of the greatest scholars or our tradition.
